Making Life a lively..living......

One thing that we all remain definite is about years. Yes,we all know exactly the number of years that we have been breathing and making our own little waves felt in the world around us. However most of us who are around now for lot many years do feel the discomfort of disclosing it in social circles. Age may be a mind set or just a figure but aging certainly is so agile, that we hardly come to realize, when was it when we started using "L'Oreal" to keep our gray black & glowing or when we added "OLE" wrinkle cream to our cosmetics to wrestle away the wrinkles from our face.... Talking for myself I have always believed in keeping my hair just the way they are ie gray & sparse. For me my cosmetics have always been just "BryleCream" and "Old Spice". I would always prefer to spend enough to walk around with my beer belly, rather spending on wrestling away the wrinkles from my face. Having said all this I still carry the enthuse of the s

a city..lost....

Beginning of the year I promised myself to keep all my posts for 2010 talking about my city..the city I grew up with....My DELHI..This Delhi has so much fascinating and interesting history that you can never tire yourself writing about her glory and historic heritage. The Shah Jahan's old Delhi & Lutyens New Delhi always reminds me about history walking hand in hand with yesterdays of today & tomorrows. The old Delhi with its vibrant, bright colors, narrow alleys and thronged bazaars equally fascinate me as much as the sky touching buildings, zipping flyovers & Metros of New Delhi... In spite of all this love for my city, did my posts through the year ever carried enough about the city .All the posts through January to December just only few posts talked about Delhi, out of even this few much remained a critic of 2010 commonwealth games..Should all this mean I am loosing my connect to the city that I always knew as Merri-Dilli... May be the unbridled crimes and stalking

Stupid..... Indian.?

The Whistle- blower website Wiki Leaks maintains that a top Singaporean diplomat described India as 'stupid'. Now that's not fair of a small country with big dreams to talk about 'India of my dreams'...which was authored by a man called Gandhi who also became the cause and effect of 'my India' waking up to freedom at midnight some 63 years way back in history... 'My India' today is one of the most secular nations in the world. So what if our secularism remains a vicariously vicious political tool to exploit people sentiments to ridicule and belittle our much talked culture of unity in diversity... 'My India' today is the largest democracy in the world which empowers we the people to elect the government of our choice. So what if the elections have come to become a Russian Roulette when it comes to triggering for right leadership... 'My India' today has enshrined in the constitution my fundamental right to freedom from all kinds of di

MY Almighty..

Whatever happens to us in life,we attribute it to our destiny and our karma. That's the way we connect self to GOD. This is one of the the realization we gain from our knowledge of life and living. However this knowledge alone is not enough to keep us afloat, awake and aware in this flat world of knowledge. I am not a book worm. I have never gained the patience of sitting through the hard bound and paperbacks. The only time I flick through magazines is when I am waiting for my turn at the barber shop. However with receding hair growth,my visit to barber shop has almost become a vanishing act,yet I take pride to be counted as part of the knowledgeable crowd. I have never read about 'Niccolo Machiavelli' the father of Politics of modern times, yet I know that politicians are the only social animals who pretend conscience without having one... I have never read Charles Darwin's "The Origin of Species" still I have knowledge enough in my command to prove that Darwin&

How long will be long enough....

Was it media ? Was it the politicians ? Or was it lack of absolute co-ordination between various govt agencies that left Mumbai burning for over 48 hours on that fateful day of November 26, 2008. All these will remain some of the questions and small talks that will be show cased as debate over our national channel as part of 26/11 anniversary episodes. This will be made an opportunity for the elite and so called intelligencia of our society to come dressed up and brushed up to give their brand 'I' a boost in front of the camera. Perhaps few of the surveyors and family members of the victims will also be interviewed forcing them to go through an agony they want to forget. The public as usual will light up the candles at Gateway of India as a mark of respect to those unlucky departed souls. Now with the sun setting on 26/11,it will be same time one year hence to see and hear the same repeats. When do we, the people realize that terrorism is a political issue and it is a politi

A conversation with self...

Scams, scandals, corruptions are today the utterly bitterly layers of spread over the democratic surface of this incredible India. You don't anymore need to discuss weather as a starter for a great conversation.Anyways being an ardent supporter of Green Peace movement I would love to start rolling this "conversation with self" with a brief take on climate change and global warming.. The global climate negotiations seems to be always hitting a dead lock because of global corporate lobbying. This could therefore be the reason that we still don't have in place any global legislation on global warming. Well let me move away from the heat before someone attempts to create a political storm of sorts. By the way I still don't understand what makes the world leaders at the recently concluded Leadership summit to believe that India is a power emerged and not any more a power emerging. They hold that our economy is growing at almost 8 to 9 %.Now how is that so when I stil

It's Different..

You can't label me Maggi mania just because I am using their ad line for this post. Also I should say I have never ever tasted 'maggi' though it ever remains a great snacking for my family. Now 'it's different' when I say I love 'Maggie' because I am now talking of the character in the comic strip "Bringing Up father". However unlike Mr.Jiggs (Maggi's husband) I continue to be in the working class and don't forsee inheriting any wealth to make me a nouveau-riche. Now whatever I said so far do inspire me to use this post to write something about "making a difference" & truly it's different... I believe that in today's complex world nobody can stop getting into trouble one way or the other. Anything from your boss(HARI SADU) to your credit card and your car parking space can create trouble for you. However if you are tactful in handling the situation, you are able to get out of it and 'makes the difference'.

Will we..? Mr.Obama..!

We are the largest democracy in this world. We are seen today as a global weight that has the potentials of turning around the economy of the oldest democracy across all the continents. There is no country in this world that is not wooing us for their own economic stability and well being. We have surely emerged as one true colossus figure to the united states of America. President Barrack Obama's indispensable India is all set to welcome the 44th President of America to the negotiating table, that may lead to giving jobs to million Americans back home, that may become a potential catalyst in bringing back the shine into the lack luster American economy. with all the President's men,an army of sniffing dogs, US secret service agents, helicopters, ship and high end security instruments President Obama's Saturday to Monday visit, should find Mumbai and Delhi virtually turned into a sort of Fort Knox. President Obama has already proved to be a great orator. He has already ach

Let the Devil get it's CREDIT..!

No national level swindling and loot could ever have made such historic headlines as did the recently concluded XXI Commonwealth Games. No political personality in the recent past could have ever remained so long on the headlines and consumed mega marathon bytes as Mr. Kalmadi. His name when googled returns 17,200,000 results in just matter of 0.06 seconds.... Mr Kalmadi remained the common man's a common 'Lakshya' for booing, jeering and venting angers all through the time when CWG was almost perceived to become a write off and a still born delivery. His own political high commands and partners in trade started distancing and disassociating from him. None of his political team after all wanted to be a part of a mega failure that was in an offing then. Then at the nick of time everything changed and an incrediable India rose up to put together a GREAT GRAND MEGA EVENT. The 2010 Commonwealth Games became a run away success for India both as a host and as a particip

a 5 crore of disappointment..!

He is the acclaimed Mozart of India. He is our Oscar getter.A winner of two Grammy awards. He is one among the many Indians who have done pride to the country. He remains Bollywood's most sought after music director. Singers of eminence keep crowding to be part of his banner. He is instantly likable and his music lastingly satisfying.Yes he is A R Rehman and I remain one among the millions of his die hard fans. However his performance at the 19th Commonwealth Games opening ceremony at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium at New Delhi failed to inspire. The composition and rendering of "Jeeyo Utho,Badho Jeeto" was so lackluster and uninspiring that it became a disastrous disappointment to me and I am sure to many more of his die hard fans. This also in a way proves that our great Bollywood biggies are simply becoming arrogantly mean and money driven. Be it the big B or Sharukh Khan, pay them what they demand and they will be ready to dance on the streets of any slumdog localities whe

No "PARKING" zone for "GOD"..!

We all believe in GOD. We also believe that we are all his creations. We further confirm that it is HIM who ultimately rules over his creation. Also it is HE who decides the fate of all of us RAM,RAHIM,JOHN and LUCKY SINGH's. Religion is simply a man made medium to understand GOD and to fall back on HIM to gain ourselves necessary strength and courage to move about in the land of his creation free and fearless... Today we find our individual "religions" becoming the most dreadful medium that keep creating obstacles for our free and fearless movements around our own country. The politicians in this country continue to use religion as a weapon to instigate violence and cripple the spirit of religious tolerance in this country. I am sure had it not been for these mean politicians we would not be witnessing today almost more than 3rd of our security forces deployed all across the nation simply to prevent political instigation of public over a verdict which would have been a

Heart away from Matters...

More often than not we in general remain more influenced by our 'Heart' than getting ruled by our 'brain'. Could be this is our reason that we get quickly moved about things & events that keep capturing our eyes & ears as we walk our day every day. We are moved and upset about starvation deaths, terror attacks, political brutalities and also in general remain visibly frustrated & heart aching over government's attitude and apathy about things and events that every now and then put country's security, sentiments and sense of prides to great stake. In short we are not able keep our heart away from matters... We know "HEART" is the most precious human organ that needs to be cared and pampered to perfection to keep it beating and pumping. We need the "Blood" to run through our body & soul till the time we breath our end..Perhaps these are the reasons that make our every day "politicians" to use their brain politics instea

Blessed "INDIA"..!

Almost it seems seventy two lacs US dollars were spent in getting the rights for hosting the XIX Commonwealth Games in Delhi. On date something of more than 72 thousand crores of rupees seems to have been spent in preparation for this Gala Sporting Event. We are just about hardly 8 days away from the date scheduled.. As I write this post everything connecting to "COMMONWEALTH GAMES" have totally turned into a most messy affair of the century. With every day, every streak of our optimism remain on a shattering verge. To add to this our visual media is going aggressively berserk on their mission for 'blood hounding' faults. Nobody on the streets of Delhi seems to be carrying even a 'bit-prayer' on their lips for the success of this COMMONWEALTH GAMES.. We the people have defiantly crossed the limits of our frustrations watching the authorities and individuals responsible for the game, sticking out their 'dog tongues 'to make Hay of taxpayers money.

Time & Excuse...

I need to give myself 'time out' from the 'book' that I am trying to write. This book will have everything dressed up for a great story line. I am sure my readers will find it nerve-wrecking, heart-melting, pulse-racing. This 'book' as and when it hits the book stand is sure to turn a 'bestseller' for that year. I can see the Bollywood crowd rushing to my door steps armed with cheques and deals for those film rights. I have decided I will not allow 'someone and some five points' like privilege, money, fame, prestige, publicity to make me look a stupid 'idiot' just completing those 3 dotted lines that are meant for my (a)Name,(b)Signature(c)Date... Now coming back to 'book' which as on date continues rusting on some remote parts of my brain. I am still waiting for a 'right click' to copy it on to my word 'doc' that continues to remain all blank & staring every time when I open the folder 'my book'. I do am

WHAT IF....

Corruptions, great bungling, rains, floods, dengue and other flues are some of the factors that are working overtime to see that the Commonwealth games does not take off at all. This is one side of the Aam Admi's thought process, the other side is Aam Admi's faith, hope and optimism that believes that in India 'God' always will come to the rescue and ensures "all turns out well. Commonwealth Games therefore is sure to become everything that is success. Now between these two school of thoughts I find stuck with few 'what if' scenarios on the fate of the upcoming commonwealth Games. Here are 3 sample scenarios that makes sense the most. Scenario No 1...'What if 'Commonwealth' Games takes off on time and becomes a success story : Mr Suresh Kalmadi will be applauded, praised and will overnight be turned into a sort of national hero who in spite of all odds ensures to keep the prestige of India in tact and glowing. Mr Suresh Kalmadi's bungli

A person for all seasons

When I look back my schooling days,I am never able to connect my history & Geography classes as well my trigonometry & differential calculus periods with what I am today. The job that I am handling demands drafting good e mails, besides managing & expanding customer base for the company's products and services.I am doing fabulously well in my job. I never ever have any reasons to brush up my history geography, nor tinker with trigonometry & differential calculus to enhance my career profile. I never feel the need to understand why at all either battle of Panipat(1526) or battle of Plassey(1757) took place. I don't have to show off that I know what makes an "OCEAN" greater than a "SEA". My knowledge of 'Differential calculus', doesn't help me, since I don't get into mortgages. I believe in a life that runs on 100%"down payments". My exposure to 'Trigonometry' gives me a thorough understanding of all

Dilli Meri Jaan..!

It’s been some time; no it would be more apt to say it’s been long time since I had any special opportunity to go out of the way to praise my city. This doesn’t mean that my heart doesn’t beat for my city. It does of course and will remain that way till I reach my final destination like every one has to, one day or some day. My city has always stayed on the head lines and been a very frequent ‘breaking news’ for all the TV channels.. From Pot holes to Open drains, from hit & run cases to rapes on moving cars, from bride burning to chain snatching, from political scandals to political scams, from mob violence to political gheraos, from terrorists attacks to espionage, from swine flue to bird flue, from sting operations to deingo, if I let loose my fingers on the key board this listing will remain unending. Truly my city has been on all CAPS for every wrong reasons and as though this was not enough, now the “Commonwealth” “Game Swindling” is almost ripping apart the city’s’ c

The perils of fandom...

Yesterday... was it God's own hand..? that helped Germany to win the Quarter finals. Yesterday was it God's own will that Argentina remained so helpless in spite of Lionel Messis and the legendary guidance of Diego Maradona. Though I am not an atheist, I still prefer not to believe that the out come of yesterday's match was was God's doing. I may be a die hard fan of "Diego Maradona" but it was simply a feast to eyes watching the German's fielding the goals one after the other & never for even a while allowing the Argentinians to take a perfect shot into their goal post. This week and the coming will show how far Germany’s form will take them. Germany has won the FIFA World Cup before but so also has Argentina . If Germany is able to repeat the quarter final feat when they play Spain on July 8 and if Germany is able to eventually fly home with World cup on July 11, it will only prove that it is will, spirit and undying team effort that allows

God's hand on the Goal post...

My knowledge of football is as limited as my knowledge of cricketing. However watching FIFA world cup has always given me the kicks & excitement which has ever remained a missing factor while watching the IPL series .It is sad that even in spite of Lalit Modi & his team's work out to spread the outfield with semi covered cheerleaders, the cricketing pitch has not been able to produce any knockout games, they merely remained a series of glam & glamour. Well it is not right to go foot loose kicking cricket every time & every where. After all it is the one game in our country that scripts overnight rags to riches stories outside of the silver screens. Football & the world cup has always been for long a part of my day dreams. One of my life time goal is to see myself cheering my "INDIA" at the FIFA GOLD CUP. Since it may take a few more of decades to see that coming true I do wish I am able to survive that many decades and also remain hail hearty and a

Where "Football" is religion..

Every four years since year 1930, setting aside year 1942 and 1946, "football" almost transforms itself from a simple ordinary people's sporting event to become an exciting global religion. The soccer world cup or FIFA world cup is played every four years between the qualified football teams of various nations across the planet. It is the time when even an atheist starts chanting for his/her favorite players and teams. The 2010 FIFA ,kicks off today at Johannesburg South Africa, which is the venue for this 19th world cup soccer. The thirty two qualified countries will be playing in eight groups and the venue for this most globally exiting sporting event will remain spread to 9 cities. For a month long from today for the world around it will be "Ke Nako" a time now to "Celebrate Africa's Humanity". This is the official slogan for 2010 FIFA. 208 countries participated in the qualifying matches for this 2010 FIFA. This number is greater t

Its time enough to be a "Ravan" ?

How can our judiciary as well our constitution give right to terrorists to file mercy petition against death sentences upheld by the highest court of justice in the country. The neck of "Afzal Guru", the master mind behind the terror attack on our Parliament should have been on the 'noose' four years back, when the supreme court had upheld his death sentence. However today he still remains hail & hearty, stealing media time as well political attention. How can the "chief minister" of a state sit over the file of "Afzal Guru" for four long years, simply because she feels hanging "Afzal Guru" will create law & order problem in the state, where incidentally 'law & order' as it is remains a perpetual question mark..? In a country where 7000 people die every day of hunger, our government spends over rupees 2 lac a day to maintain and protect "Kassab" the butcher of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. On date it i

Walking the "red corridor"

For the politicians in this country walking the 'red carpets' has become a business as usual. Today Bollywood icons are more and more eying to walk the 'red carpets' in "Cannes" and "London", rather than trying to remain afloat walking the ramps within the glamour corridors of India. In the post independent India "power and paisa" have surely become a "fevicol ka jod" for the politicians as well as for the affluent in the society. Unfortunately they only constitute just a small fraction of the Pie "India". The rest of this pie constitute the "Aam Aadmi", a tribe that remains constantly harassed by inflation and insecurity as well as poverty and prejudice. For this lot the proverbial "sun shine" seems to remain in perpetual eclipse. Way back in 60's a movement got initiated by the peasants and tribals in this country to fight against exploitations and atrocities of the zamindars and th

It's my "Common Sense" after all..!

Being an "Aam Aadmi" it will always remain a "common sense" for me to keep promoting "communal harmony" in order to reduce as well avoid any communal disturbance in my immediate neighbour hood. Also it will make a "common sense" for me to work towards "religious tolerance" within the community that I live in, to prevent flare-ups of "religious sentiments. Again it will make a lot of "common sense" for me to devote "quality time" for removing 'cast bias' among the members of the society, so that I don't get tensed up when any member in my family decides to marry outside the 'cast'. It will again be my "common sense" that I muster support from the members of the society to fight against any kind of 'discrimination' based on cast, gender and religion, so that as a "society" we are able to keep alive both in "letter & spirit" the basic values of &q

Nobody's Business...

On a broad day light when I am robbed at the point of gun, nobody comes for my rescue, because I am nobody's business. When I am dying of hunger, nobody bothers to give me a bite off the "loaf" because I am nobodys's business. When I am raped on the streets, nobody walks forward to save my 'honour' because I am nobody's business. However when I fall in 'love' and want to marry my fiancee, who is of the same "Gothra" as I am , 'I' suddenly become everybody's business and soon our "lives" are cut short in the name of "honour killing". It is sad that in a civilized society that we claim to be living in, such 'atrocities' on 'human lives' are receiving "political patronage" both at national and regional levels. Our "politicians bazaar" today remains thriving with vote "banking politics", so much so that the country today has no "political leadership", with

What is your "cast"..?

We do carry on pretending to be progressive and broadminded. However the fact remains that we still both as individuals as well as a community continue to remain emotionally aggressive when it comes to our "cast". "castisim" therefore is one of the most 'vicious' bullets that our political parties use for gunning their victory at election as well for staying in power. 'Cast' definitely continue to remain on the forefront in elections both at Gram panchayat level and state level. They also remain very vibrant at the national level in "general elections". In spite of our "Democracy" and the "Preambles" of our constitution we as a nation still have no "political will" to "castaway" "cast" from politics. Inclusion of "CAST COUNT" in the coming up national "CENSUS" is a proof that no political parties in this country has today any serious and sincere "agenda"

'Proud' to be 'Indian' am "I"..?

My chest swelled with "pride" when President Obama hailed "India" indispensable. I truly feel blessed to have been born into the country which is the land of "Himalayas' the world's tallest mountain. I am also thrilled that my "INDIA" is the land of many mysteries and fascinations, that all desire to see. I feel privileged to be a a citizen of a country which is the world's largest and oldest democracy and contains an amazing wealth of wisdom, culture and spirituality. I feel great and an "honoured Indian" when I realize that this country gave the world an universal leader called "GANDHI", a lean bespectacled and a 'barely clad' person who was able to garnish enough strength to bring the great "British Empire" to her knees, forcing her to quit "INDIA". However where there is pride, prejudice does follow. May be therefore when I say I am proud to be Indian, I also remain 'pis

My take on "IPL"

Contradictions, controversies, mega parties,'Bollywood glitters', "long legs and short covered" "Cheer Leaders" besides some 'Sporty' moments and few "bouts" of cricketing made IPL 3 a sheer "60" days of "non stop" entertainment. Mr.Lalit Modi deserves our whole hearty congratulations" for putting up the "IPL" show with a "fine cut" publicity and an excellent "back foot" drive "executions". However Mr. Lalit Modi is currently seen "hogging" the lime light for all "wrong reasons". His achieving an enviable "run rate" and posting a "mega crore" without being neither on the "pitch" and nor running "between the wickets" is something that cannot happen without a 'proper' and 'well oiled' "umpiring pact" in place. No sensible person in his right mind can accept BCCI's claim that no other members

"Corruption".. "GOD of all things"..!

You can’t live your life with ‘philosophy’ and ‘spirituality’. To remain “spirited” in life you need to ‘sail along’ with the ‘cultural norms’ that surround you. One of the ‘cultural norm’ that remains every day, every where vibrant, visible and victorious is something that we all understand but don’t speak of till some 'lid blows' somewhere, making all the media go frenzy. Yes I am referring to “corruption”. I don’t understand why we always pretend to hate “corruption”. It is an accepted common sense that “Corruption” remains prevalent as well thriving across the length and breadth of this country. “Corruption” in fact has become today for us a “GOD” of All things”. Our faith in it becomes sometimes a greater ‘force’ than our faith in our “Gods and Goddess”.” Like our “GOD and GODDESS” “corruption” also goes by different “names”. We know very well most of the things in this country hardly move without “greasing” a ‘palm’ or few. It is called “donation” when you pay it to get y

When the Heart “Bat” the “Brain” take the “Beatings”

The IPL saga of “corruption” seems to be not abating. In fact it is becoming a platform for all the “Politicians” other than the political party in power to ‘show case’ and shout about their bonding to “Honesty”. As I key in this post the cacophony and shouts of opportunist politicians are consuming media bytes. "OD" matches gave cricket a much needed ‘boost; by transforming the game into a one day package of excitement and entertainment. However this thrill and speed soon consumed some great names in international cricketing like Hansie cronje and Bob Woolmer. “Match fixing” became the order of the day as well a 'code of conduct' for the players in the pitch. Soon thereafter the cricketing format went for a major makeover and "Indian Premier League" came into being. IPL a “Lalit Modi” creation was everything about "fuzz, flash and fashion". 'Cricketing' pitch overnight got transformed into a “ramp” where one after the other great names in

"Double fault" or "Silly point"

High profile weddings do generally remain in 'twists' and 'turns' before it eventually becomes a big fat global wedding. Sania Mirza's proposed wedding to Shoaib Malik is currently drawing a "full house" media attention. It looks like our 'media' finds that "all is fine" in this country, except this "wedding", so they are putting all their "bench strength" and going "Gung-ho" in 'intruding' and 'investigating' this "wedding". It's sad that 'media' in this 'country' most of the time remains so consumed with 'irrelevancy' that it fails to catch up with 'relevant' "national" issues. She's India's tennis ace. He's a high-profile Pakistani cricketer. And they're all set to get married in Hyderabad/Dubai/Lahore....well this definitely is "news" worth covering but our media, covering this event looks more like "ho

"Earthling sake"..!

I am quite good in "switching off" the lights and "unplugging" things that are not needed. I become more aggressive doing this every time after receiving the electricity bill. This is being going on for two years yet I find I have not achieved any significant saving on my electricity bill. My "electricity bill" still continues to remain hounded by a "draining" 'money' "Energy". I am not discouraged yet, I continue to remain a "switch off the lights" enthusiast. Its nearing 8.30PM now and today is the last "Saturday" of this month "March". Let's get set to "switch off" the lights, also not think instead "lighting up" a "candle". Let's once in a year this day for just one "HOUR" enjoy the "silence of darkness". It takes a decade to see a 'fraction degree' of impact of "global warming" on "Earth". Therefore the

Have a "Nice Day"....

With so many reservations that are 'stalking' a generally “ordinary people”, I am sure very soon when you try booking a 'pool side' table in some 'five star' hotel...Your conversation with the reservation desk will run something like this…Read on... You: Hello is this Hotel “Paradise” Reservation desk Hotel “paradise”: Good Morning sir, can I help you You: I need to book a table for 2 on your “Pool” side restaurant for this evening RDHP: sure sir. But before that as per the latest Government norms, you will have to answer a set of questions that I should be asking. I am sorry this may be annoying but rule is a rule… You: please go ahead I am willing to take the questions. I am a law abiding citizen RDHP: Here is my first Q….Your citizenship..? You: Indian RDHP: Are you a “schedule cast” You: No RDHP: Do you belong to any “schedule tribe” You: No RDHP: Are you from a “Minority Community” You: I am a ‘Hindu’ RDHP: That means you don’t belong to any “Minority Commu

"Mayawati" a "Political Virus"

The power of a 'computer virus' is such that if one program is infected, it can spread like “swine flue” into the entire system. In the same way if a 'Political virus' is left not 'treated' will spread like “Aids” and sooner or later destroy the very fabrics of the "political system" of the country. Today in a "Democratic India", there are lots of 'political virus' that needs to be "treated". However it is the virus called "Mayawati" that beats them all in "priority". It is a disgusting fact to realize that in our system of "Democracy", political personalities like "Mayawati" continue to remain unbridled, unchecked and allowed to lead a life of splendor and arrogance at the cost of “Aam Aadmi’s basic needs. UP (Uttar Pradesh) today has become a "Welfare State" for "Mayawati" and her band of cronies. The people of this State remain a mute spectator to her &quo

For the “Tiger” not in the “wood”..?

In the very recent past I had the opportunity to visit both “Ranthambore” National Park” off “Sawi Madhopur” and “Jim Corbett” off “Ranikhet”. I spent my ‘patience’ and two nights on the “Machans”, yet I could not even spot the 'pug marks' of “tiger" any where. It does send me into believing that “Tigers” have vanished from the “woods”. I remain now totally confused on the government’s arithmetic of “1411”. Why not we seriously contemplate to target on some other ‘animal’ for our “national symbol” instead of living in vanity with “Tigers” that are there no more. Here are some options that come to my mind. “Jungle Bees”. In case we can call this an 'animal'? They have the potential for dispersing unruly political 'rallies'. A heat on their “butt” is enough to ignite them. However I am not sure if the “Bees” have butts”? ... “Cows”. They are found in plenty, on our streets and roads. It will also help in preventing these stray “animals” from ending u

It’s Time to Move On!

In today’s real time "India" “National symbols”…are not expected to infuse a sense of pride and patriotism in us. They are instead expected to connect to the people of the soil on an “as is where is basis”. I see our national game “Hockey” no where near in achieving this. We are still not able to promote this “game”. This in spite of all those 'symbolic' attempts by media, Bollywood and & government. ”Hockey” is a very energetic game and the basic skill required for playing “Hockey” is the ability to control, pass, push, stop and shoot the ball with your hockey stick. It is both beautiful and impressive to watch a player with good stick handling skills controlling the ball while sprinting the length of the field, or weave through the sticks and legs of defenders to create a chance for shooting at the goal. Playing “Hockey” indeed calls for a lot of stamina and energy. Sadly today none of us have any thing much to contribute to “boost” our energy for “Hockey”. In

Women’s reservation a “no need”.?

I don’t subscribe to any school of thought that practices male chauvinism. Though I was never a student of political science, I do understand that Article 14 of our constitution guarantees equality to women and article 15 guarantees no discrimination and the article 16 talks about equal opportunity. Post 62 years these constitutional fundamentals are still not being seen whole heartedly practiced in our society. I call this a lack of "political will". Today if this is being re surfaced as “woman’s reservation bill, it is simply a political maneuvering to gain political popularity. I don’t understand how reserving “181”seats in “Lok Sabha” for woman is going to prevent the “pervert” political minds from exploiting "woman" I can neither imagine nor believe that this “181” parliamentary quota for "woman" is going to help those millions of unfortunate "women" in this country, who in spite of all talk about "woman empowerment" are not allow

chonk gaye kya..!

From 'colas' to 'cosmetics' and from 'toiletries' to 'detergents' ,it is we the consumer who influence the wining edge for the product as well contribute to all the shakes and moves of their sales graph. In short it is we the consumers who remain both a king maker and an uncrowned king in the FMCG market. However somewhere in the chain of the events it is them who make a joker of us through their creative ad that get into our head without influencing our brain. For instance in spite of my using anti dandruff shampoos, the dandruff continues to remain cozy and comfortable inside the scanty growth over my head. My skin still continues to remain “dark and not glowingly” even after exhausting tubes of “fair & lovely”. The white shirts that I wear to office is anything but a “safedi ke chamkan”. Even my wife’s hopping from "Rin to "Tide" & "Tide to Rin" has not helped my shirts to "wash away" its paleness. I still or

Budget 2010, a fueling frustration..!

Union Budget is all about economic of forecasting. John Kenneth Galbraith said about the 'economic of forecasting and I quote "The only function of economic forecasting is to make astrology look respectable." Incidentally it is the "Aam Aadmi’s" blind faith in 'astrology' that is keeping the ritual of union budget a standard of 'great expectation' for him. The impact of year 2010 union budget will defiantly remain our media’s most discussed and widely analyzed affair in the coming days. However it will be the "Aam Aadmi" who will be bearing the brunt of this budget. You will see how the tiny hike in the cost of petrol and diesel will add fuel to the already speeding prices of "kitchen essentials". It will be any economist’s delight watching the "Aam Aadmi" coping with life, as prices will start shooting to new heights "break less" and "unabated". Again an "Aam Aadmi" would have prefer

Drawing 'attention' to being 'attractive'...

Historically speaking we have always remained a point of "attention" for the world around. It was the "East India" Company's attention that eventually turned us into a "British subject". Again our journey from being a "British Colony" to becoming an "independent India" saw us getting into a huge bandwidth of attention from across the globe. We hogged the lime light for our classic "freedom struggle", which remains the first ever "battle for freedom" based on the concept called "non violence". Today in the free and a "Democratic India", we remain glorified for our poverty and slum dog culture. Besides all this, we do still keep the 'world's attention' for our 'spiritualism' and 'yoga'. Now since we continue to 'hog attention' of the 'world' around for one thing or the other, it doesn't make sense for me to keep going with such listing. I th

Cut,Paste,Publish..!

The 'Pune" bomb blast did prompt me to once again touch on the subject 'terrorism'. However I gave it a 'second thought' and decided instead to post something on the "tigers", the 'animal' that is taking all our attention, since it is felt that this magnificent 'cat' of the 'jungle' has come to become an 'en-dangered specie'. Terrorism on the other hand remains a 'sporadic' and 'random' killings of human beings', a specie, that remains 'cheaply' available in 'abandon' for some more couple of decades. Therefore there is no 'business' or 'ecological' urgency to initiate any project on "save human life,Fight terrorism". Again when I post anything on 'terrorism',it will be strictly a 'repetitive' of my previous 'posts' on the subject. The only value add that I will be making is editing the number of 'lives lost', the 'lo

Jungle jungle pata chala hai...

Whenever you see the number "100" you are instantly able to connect it to the "POLICE" help line.Today in the same way you are able to relate the number "1411" to the total strength of "TIGERS" in India. The project "Save the Tiger" has defiantly become the most talk-able "talk show" and "brand" "tag lines" in the country. We find it quickly becoming an "add-on" to the already choking "wealth lines" of our starry cricketers and other reigning "Stars" of the film fraternity. Further it is also helping us in moving away from 'underscoring' the plight of a social animal called "Common man". Incidentally it also 'emotes' well through beautiful "visual & sound", the plight of a two months old "Tiger-Pub" waiting for the 'mother tiger' to return 'home', as we take the 'sound' of the "gun shot"

My "Valentine"

Valentine is all about love. It can be your love for your parents, a love for your children, a love for your life partners, a love for your friends and it goes on…like that. In all these relations there is always a hate that pops up now and then. At times the patching up becomes a trip to no where. I would therefore prefer “myself” to be my 'valentine'. I feel I need to learn to love myself, before I get into proving my love for others. To make this happen, I will need to first to get rid off my cribbing “mind” and perhaps a crippling "body". Let me therefore invest this day in bringing into shape my ‘mind’ and my ‘body’. When I train my mind to become “fearless”, my heart will grow ‘strong’ and will never 'chicken out' from the challenges of living. When I work my body to shape, I will remain energized and would have gained confidence in running, jumping and leaping as I play a “centre forward” dribbling my way to post my “goals” in life. When I reach here, I

"mnik" vs "MNIT"

"mnik" said that "freedom of expression" remains the most "fundamental right" of every citizen in this country. "MNIT" maintains that in a "Political Democracy",every leader has the right to influence and instigate the public, to keep up his "political stature" "mnik" said that "Bollywood" traditionally remains very "nervous" on "Thursdays" and "Fridays" because these are the days when "Movies" are released. "MNIT" maintains that every "Mumbiaker" has to remain both nervous and scared,"everyday" if 'we' "BRU" (bal, raj, udhav) it to be so... "mnik" remains firm when he said "I will not say "sorry",because I believe in "what I say" "MNIT"feels that he is the only person who can grant a "Mannat" to a "Mumbikar" to live in "BOMBAY".. Well..these &qu

Shut Up “Mogambo”!

Recently, ‘Karan Johar’ was summoned to Mr. Bal Thackeray’s durbar. He was called their to apologize and say sorry to Mr. Bal Thackeray in person, for using the term “Bombay” instead of “Mumbai” in one of his recent hit film “Wake up Sid” Once again now this self proclaimed “Mogambo”of ‘Maharashtra’ along with his pair of Popats (“RAJ”& “UDHAV”) and band of ‘tapories’ are consuming the media bytes simply to remain a constant ‘breaking news’ of TV channels. Their intent is to keep ‘live’ their “political vandalism” and ensure that their political life is not written off as quickly as their “political performance” in the state. Their increasing nonsense value is creating a serious dent to common man’s perception of Democracy. Can any government remain a “fiddler in the roof” as the citizens of the nation continue to remain a victim of disgracing regional political bias? Where was this“Mogambo”and his” band”, When many ‘Waghle',’Waghmare’and 'Bhonsle' were falling down to

My expiriment with "TRUTH"..

It was today but the year was 1981 and the day was probably a Saturday. I was there on the ceremonial stretch of "Raj path".There were about 4 lac people like me "all excited", getting ready for the "action shot" for Richard Atendbrough's film "GANDHI". The scene was Gandhiji's "funeral procession".I was wearing white khadi "Pajama & Kurta" which I bought from Khadi gram udyog at 'Regal building the previous evening. This was the recommended "dress code" for the shoot. Probably I never thought then that I was about to be part of a "live action crowd" of this magnitude that will never again be filmed. Soon the heavy camera's parked on the cranes started rolling. I lost the count of how many times those giant like cameras zoomed in and zoomed out of me. I was simply emotionally charged walking the stretch shouting "Vande Matram","Mahatma Gandhi" "AmarRahe"

India turns"60"

We are proud to bestow you with the honour of "senior citizenship". Believe me this is no "life time achievement award" because we know we need you till the world lasts. This is simply a token of our humble appreciation and expression of our deep sentiments to say that we "Love You" for your courage, determination and fighting spirit that has led us to become a true "indispensable" India in the "World Today" We know we have still a long way to go to keep and sustain "spirit of unity in diversity". We know it will take us some more "light years" to realise that any kind of discrimination of human life will always remain our stumbling block in creating and retaining a true civilized society. We understand that we cannot afford to individually remain selfish in creating wealth for ourselves. We know if we continue this way, we will never be able to stop the 'invaders' from plundering the "wealth of our nati

The story of the "Unsold"..!

It looks like I am still in the "Cricket nets". This has nothing at all to do with improving "cricketing techniques. I am just trying to "warm up" to deliver "googly" that I hope will set some reasoning to wipe out the "wrong ones" that is consuming the passions of all on the other side of the "boundary". Every one knows that cricket no more is a gentleman's game. Over the years "OD" matches have taken priority over "Test Cricketing". Now with the emergence of IPL series, "cricketing" has come to become the most highly "staked" business venture. The IPL-3 bidding results is truly hurting and disappointing to all of us "cricket loving" millions across the world. Our sentiments may remain hurt since we will not be able to watch the cool headed "Pakistani" batsman "Misbah-ul-Haq" batting under pressure. We will also miss the privilege of watching the "Boom

when "cricketers" go under the hammer..!

Cricket has always been a game of glorious uncertainties. Now it has also become the pitch for glorifying the "auctioning" of the players. In the "historical days" of "slave trading",the poor slaves never enjoyed the privilege of giving their consent to be "sold". Now it is no more so. Thanks to IPL's democracy. Bidding now can never 'take off' as long as the 'players' don't give their individual consent for getting themselves auctioned. It will therefore not be right to blame the "Bollywood biggies" and the business "tycoons" for taking the "Cricket" from the ground inside a "stadium" to a "Dalal's street" in the "commodity market". Cricket still remains a most exiting sport for the commonwealth countries. However with the advent of so called 'professionalism' into cricket,it is sheer Money power that dominates the "caliber and performance&quo

"Haiti" catastrophe..

The affluent societies across the world always believe that a common man will ever remain crying, cribbing and criticizing. They never will for once try to pause to hear that feeble "heart beats" inside the common man. At this moment the heart of every "common man" is struggling to reach out to those millions,in "Haiti" who remain crushed beneath the heap of concretes. "Haiti" is a small and poor nation situated in the "Caribbean islands. The geographical divide, may or may not enable him to be there with the people of "Haiti" at this hour of grief. However when he offers his prayer today from any corner of the world..cross my heart it will be for those "millions" of "human beings" whose lives stand lost and devastated by this earthquake. I hope and wish that the "elites" in our so called "affluent" society will not wait for the Government's "tax concession" to write a "ch

"XIX Commonwealth Games" a race for success..!

We are today watching "Connaught Place" the very "Heart" of this city, going through an 'open heart surgery'. We don't yet know how long the 'operation' will last. However what we know is that this "Heart" of Delhi" has to be found "beating healthy" and 'strong' in just about '263' days. The "roads and flyovers" ,the very "Arteries" of this city remain chocked up with anything that has "four wheels and something". We don't yet know if the 'authorities' will be able to make these roads and flyovers "accident free". However what we know is that these "Arteries" has to flow without 'blockade' in just about '263' days. "Transportation" which are the very "limbs" of this 'city', are currently hanging 'loose' on the 'shoulders'. The "low floor" 'DTC' buses are "cat
